The Storm Rolls In

At 10:30 a.m., lightning struck nearby, and all lifts came to a halt. Everyone—guests, staff, and racers alike—retreated indoors. The sky had turned dark, the wind had stilled, and for a moment, the world outside felt suspended in time.

The video we’re sharing today isn’t dramatic in action, but powerful in feeling. You see a motionless chairlift, dim morning light, and people quietly waiting. It’s not the kind of footage we usually associate with ski resorts. And yet, it’s just as much a part of life in the mountains.

Nature is not something we control—it’s something we work with. And sometimes, that means stepping back.

Fortunately, the storm passed without incident. But moments like this remind us:Respect, preparation, and calm are just as essential as skis and snow.

See you next week with another sensory moment from the snowfields of the Southern Hemisphere.
